SKYPE Mic Gain
If you
have trouble with SKYPE taking undesired
control of your MIC gain, this is the fix
|
Skype has an integrated feature
called AGC which can and most likely will want to increase your Mic gain
while you are not talking. If the rig is on VOX, this AGC will
cause the slightest noise to trip or even just cycle the PTT
You can disable the AGC - (Thanks to the

<VoiceEng>
<AGC>0</AGC> <-------------------------------------- add this line
<MicVolume>xxx</MicVolume>
</VoiceEng>
</Lib>
<UI>
Edit this and SAVE
Don’t forget to shutdown Skype before doing this.
Skype will not allow any changes while running!
You must set the signal volume now manually for best quality (use MS
Sound Recorder or echo123 again)
Now you should check your shared.xml again
<MicVolume>xxx</MicVolume>
Values:
255 is max volume - 0 AND 256 = mike volume off
As Auto Volume control is off now, you shall check volume now with
echo123
Do not use MS sound recorder or any
other windows software, they will NOT do this job.
Do not forget: Skype has his OWN
control
You must use/check with echo123
If the volume with 255 is too high, sound will be distorted and/or
clipped.
This loud, but poor sound, may be
not understandable. Set for best audio quality
Save
Restart Skype
73 and enjoy
the new tools the internet is providing ham radio
