Progress seems a bit slow however the body work and the fitting and adjusting of doors and fenders takes time.  The transmission has now been fully rebuilt as has the engine which can be seen in the photos below.

Steve and I have also been busy keeping an eye on eBay for the parts required to complete the conversion of the standard convertible body and interior style to that of a GTA350 with deluxe interior complete with the optional tilt steering wheel.  I now have 90% of the interior pieces but still searching for a 67 Mustang "white" steering wheel.  Any leads on same would be appreciated.

Deluxe steel wheels (see sample above right) and enamelled headers are on order and will dress out the vehicle in original GTA styling right down to the GT pop-open gas cap - don't ask what I paid for that :-(

The engine rebuild has progressed with  all new bearings, higher performance cam new dual timing chain and gears and of course all new frost plugs.

New higher compression, Teflon skirted pistons in freshly machined 30 over bores will produce about a 10:1 compression ratio.  Heads have been machined with two new valve seats where spec could not have been maintained.  heads were shaved just enough to true them up.   Note that these heads are the more sought after small combustion chamber variety which will help with the final horsepower.

Steve is doing the final top assembly after a new oil pump was installed before the pan was closed up.   Of course being a Ford it had to be painted in Ford engine blue.  A 600 cfm Autolite will grace the stock Mustang 4V intake manifold.

And after the body work is complete, new front end installed, the engine will end up here.

The body work on drivers side is ready for primer with still work to do on passenger side before primer and a coat of black gloss paint is applied to allow easier checking for any flaws in the body work.

Dec 20, 2003

Rear end and trunk have all been prepared and are also ready for primer

Dec 20, 2003

Many many hours of additional prep work have gone into the body work before final primer and paint.
