This Month - The Doors and Floor this page last updated
Saturday, March 29, 2008
Progress in April was a bit slow due to several personal commitments. While
the fan mail from you Mustang supporters is appreciated, I do post updated
photos within a day or two of being taken so if there have been no updates
to the project, what you see is where it's at.

The doors from the
donor Grande were in great to replace the
original doors which the shell were in very poor shape.
Here Winston Haye of
Winston's Enviroblast is using baking soda under high pressure to
remove the paint baring the original virgin Ford sheet metal.
While the cost to blast with Soda is higher, unlike sand-blasting,
soda does not create the heat that occurs when using sand.
Heat is a killer to external car panels as the heat causes the
larger expanses of metal such as roof, hood, trunk doors etc, to
warp.
I also located a
replacement trunk lid so that is adjacent to the door being blasted.
The Ram Air cleaner is visible in the background. The soda did
a great job of removing the paint and cleaning it up for
restoration.

The Grande door had some previous body work where the
pull holes were not closed. Here Steve inspects his welding
repair work.
